Right up my alley, pinch me…hearing Laura share her Silhouette of Success story had me on pins-n-needles with giddiness. I treasure each Silhouette of Success guest and story, all so uniquely authentic and exhilarating. Laura spoke to my soul on a level of mutual appreciation for preserving the treasures of days gone by, the splendor of symbolism the item represents, and the story of the person attached to it and the journey it had a role in playing. I am in the business of treasure hunting, estate and garage sales, thrifting, back-alley cruising on trash collection days and yes…dumpster diving. Oh yes, picture it, believe it…have fun with the visual!
Some of my fondest memories are of my hide away in Great Aunt Mary’s attic. The cedar wood lined walls, no heat or air conditioning just me, some treasures, a comfy bed, hand stitched antique quilt and the turquois box fan in the window. Magical!
Ask any vintage lover, antique booth vendor and they will tell you it’s the love of the quest. There is something about the thrill of the hunt and finding a connection to the past, tie to the past, a nostalgic memory and sure sometimes it might have monetary value. Interestingly, we are in to make money, yes, absolutely…but the entire experience that leads up to the sale of any item or piece is a story within the story. Laura hit the heartstrings when she shared with us the extra special steps, she takes to ensure that she is passing the light forward when she tries to get the stories about very special pieces and pass that legacy forwards. Did you catch that part of her episode, if not I encourage you to go back. In fact, here is a bonus for you; this is one example of her extraordinary care for preserving and sharing the history of a special piece that caught my attention and the women that owned it I Belonged to Somebody Special, Ask About Me!
