THE AMBER WEITZER PODCAST SILHOUETTES OF SUCCESS
SARA MCELROY| EPISODE 76 | SHOW NOTES
FEATURED GUEST
Our V.I.P. Featured Guest Sara McElroy is a former hustle culture devotee, ex-chief marketing officer, the Wall Street Journal’s poster girl for pandemic career burnout, and a two-time member of the Great Resignation: class of 2021 and 2022. She is on a journey to explore the similar stories, breaking points, and defining moments that led women to seek greater opportunity mid-pandemic. These conversations became the genesis of Raze to Rise – an organization created to amplify women’s voices from the Great Resignation and inspire others to blaze new trails in their own careers.
CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS
Playing Big: Give yourself permission to play big, think big and learn from the mess and the muck. In fact, taking the time to fill your own cup is something Sara believes in and shares more details on the importance dedicating some time to do so. Sara breaks down our that we have more available to us within our gifts and natural skillset. In addition Sara talks about the workforce in general and as women and how it does and sometimes doesn’t fit within the context of the traditional workspace-fascinating!
Raze to Rise: Sara embarked on a fascinating mission to talk and visit with women about their journey, their moment, priorities, self-reflect and giving the gift of taking time out to be aware of your own needs. Pivoting from the house of cards that she built, Sara realized that climbing the ladder and reaching the desirable top rung, she didn’t find the happiness that she anticipated. She knew that her career was also in a way too tightly connected to her identity. She was able to have clarity in the situation and untangle herself. She is on a mission and created a toolbox of sorts to help other women find their way as well in modeling a way forward and go from Raze to Rise!
Hamster Wheel: Mindlessly on the hamster wheel, stop, hit pause and ask yourself is what I am doing still good for Me? The pause of the pandemic gave some the time to have a conscious look and inventory at what we were doing-especially women. As part for her Great Resignation project and conversations Sara was able to hear from women about having this slow down time to reflect a little bit on whole picture. Sara talks about conscious questioning -so deep, so vital. What really matters, priorities along with what works.
