Curate Your Development Board of Directors

Let’s review the Conversation Highlights:

Connecting the Dots | Sweet Spot | Storytelling

“As a leader, independent contractor, or entrepreneur where do you find support?”

Its lonely out here as an independent contract or entrepreneur, in the home office, C-Suite or hustling more than one gig…quite frankly, it’s downright tough, raw and isolating. Ah, but just with everything in life…find the sunshine in the puffy cloud. It was so encouraging, nay a brilliant best practice that Carrie shared in her Episode #112 of creating your own Development Board of Directors. Why, well I invite you to tune in to hear it directly from her, but the golden nuggets in her wisdom go something like this; we all value and benefit in having strong mentors and consistent coaching. Carrie creates her own Development Board of Directors that consists of personal, health, wealth and business key players that she can call upon vs. having the unrealistic expectation that “a” or one coach or mentor has the capacity and skillset to truly move the needle forward. It isn’t a one size fits all.

Now, I am ready to follow her lead and take action, are you with me? So, I made this for myself and happy to pass the light forward to you, my treat!

My Plan of Action:

  • Time block 2 hours (1hr per day X2 or power play it and knock it out!)
  • Download and save My Development Board of Directors (scroll down)
  • Print a few copies, its FREE-go wild!

1. Who in my sphere would be willing and able to support me? Make it simple, start with your databases:

  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Contacts
  • Extended Sphere-2nd or 3rd level contacts, friends of friends and alike that could be a great fit. We all know so many phenomenal folks, keep it light, fun and social but stay diligent in your goal and stay on task, stay on time.

2. Prospecting: Write down 3-4 names, phone and or email addresses on My Development Board of Directors pink sheet.

3. Reach out to my curated list, share my desired goal of securing trusted, credible and positive accountability partners. Some contacts might be in the business of coaching or mentoring, others might be strong in their fields and subject matter experts willing to give back or hired. You won’t know if you don’t ask!

4. Clean Copy: Finalize My Development Board of Directors and send out Thank you notes!

Remembering this is a two-way street and when it works, the authenticity in passing the light forward is cosmic!

One day, you will be receiving a reach out, so return the favor…pass the light darling!
