In this Sorority Session:

Hats

Let’s review the Conversation Highlights:

All Business | Structure | Win-Win

   Do you love hats?

  What type of hats?

Cloche | Pillbox | Juliet | Fez | Peach Basket | Beret | Boater | Cowboy | Tiara | Cartwheel

  What “hats” do you wear?

How many hats can you name that you wear and how often do they change-daily, hourly?

Wife | Mother | Mentor | CEO | Chef | Nurse | Mechanic | Therapist | Magician | Detective

Perhaps, one too many? Can you recognize signs of burnout?

I’m not a fan of that word, to me it sounds a bit too final, I prefer worn out.

Here are some thoughts of signs that come to my mind:

Noun: Burnout | Exhaustion of physical or emotional strength or motivation usually as a result of prolonged stress or frustration

Verb: Overwhelm | To overpower in thought or feeling

Adjective: Disorganized | Jumbled, confused, messy

Call it what you will, the message today is…can you see the signs coming before you reach that point? In Amy’s Episode 92, she mentioned all the hats and that struck a cord with me, especially lately. Sometimes its task or project based, it might be an environment that is no longer a good fit or even a relationship. This isn’t a doom and gloom Sorority Session, the opposite! We wear so, so many “hats” as women, it’s a superpower. In my not so humble opinion, I love it! It’s a powerful blessing to have the health, courage, energy, ability, talent and stamina (or bandwidth) to be a woman of many hats. I love hats! I love vintage hats, Kentucky Derby hats, Southern Belle hats…they bring personality, style, and purpose. Our daily roles as leaders within our family, community, business, industry, church or anyplace we choose to participate can bring a multitude of responsibilities. It is vital to see the signs and heed any cautionary signals. I tend to wear a lot of hats and have realized why my neck and shoulders have a tendency to ache from time to time. Too many hats or they type of hats.

So, time to take a look in the mirror to see which hats no longer fit well, look favorable or it’ might just be time to let one of them go.

Our Silhouettes of Success are a goldmine of goodness with best practices! Take the time off or away-even a five-minute breathing exercise {remember Shonda Episode 73}, take a stroll {remember Corinne Episode 20}, time block for a fun or relaxing activity or adjust what you are participating in and with if it no longer aligns with your values and health goals, yes mental health!

How often do we reach out and ask for help, really asking for help…are you a caregiver to aging parents or loved ones, is that project growing bigger by the day-time to delegate, build a team or collaborative group, is your business beginning to cause you to work 24 hours…ask for help.

We need your light to be luminous, sharp, clear and healthy! The gifts, talents, skills, and you, just being you is cherished, so take care of you while you are taking care of everything else…the world will still turn, the sun will still rise if you decide to hang up a hat or two and give your lovely self a break.
